Active Unemployed Austria calls for supportof the campaign!
(Vienna, February 21, 2021) Even if the 150 Euro monthly corona subsidy for unemployed people in Austria has been extended to the end of March and also the minimal increase in emergency assistance to the level of unemployment benefit, Austria continues to cover the masses of gainfully employed people according to the principle of "Felxunsecurity": A net replacement rate of only 55% remains at the lower end of the rich developed world.
Unfortunately, the new Minister of Labor, former head of the social research institute IHS, Martin Kocher, is also expected to show little commitment to improving the situation of people who are marginalized as unemployed by the economy and the state. The damage caused by Corona and politics will continue to burden the general population for a long time On the other hand, the large corporations and capital owners will probably continue to be spared of contributing to the costs of corona crisis and get a lot of get a lot of grants at the expense of the working class.
Therefore Austrias larges independent unemployed union „Active Unemployed Austria“ supports the platform for action, which is geared towards a longer struggle, and calls on civil society to support this initiative!
